Fredrick Douglass’ visit to Cork was a remarkable event. The American abolitionist found kindred spirits in the people of Cork. Douglass and the people of Cork: learned from each other, supported each other, and inspired each other. However, the life lessons that they shared were not restricted to their time and place. They are living lessons that we can all share across time and place. That is why we say fáilte (welcome) as you come to visit the Frederick Douglass Mural in Cork Ireland.
